Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies - In Gatlinburg. A navy relative, who has visited aquariums all over the globe, said this is one of the best he's seen.
River Tubing - Great fun for all ages. Just a wonderful way to spend the day and have a "new" view of the Smokies.
Smoky Mountain Jubilee - Not sure if this is one of the first theaters in town, but definitely believe it is one of the best. If you are going to see a show, be sure to go to the Jubilee. They offer a terrific variety show including country and gospel music, clogging, and comedy, and just the friendliest staff you could ever meet.
Quiet Walking Trails - You'll find these off the Gatlinburg bypass and enjoy them immensely. Just a tiny little sign pointing you in the right direction, but there is roadside parking. These short hikes are great for all ages and a fantastic way to enjoy the Park. |

Patriot Park - By the Old Mill in Pigeon Forge at light #7. Walking trail, ducks to feed, and a picnic pavilion. Just so peaceful.
Behind Dixie Stampede - Just across the river from Patriot Park, there are a few concrete picnic tables. Great spot to sit and have some quiet time, feed ducks, and even wade.
Chimney Tops - The first picnic area off the Gatlinburg bypass from Pigeon Forge. Lots of tables beside a rushing river, charcoal grills, restrooms. It stays pretty cool under the canopy of trees so even when it's hot out, you might like a sweater here. |

Duff's Smorgasbord - All buffet! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On weekends and evenings, also have carved ham and beef. Pigeon Forge, between lights #8 and #10.
LaCaretta - Mexican food that can't be beat. Beside Duff's, between lights #8 and #10 in Pigeon Forge.
The Best Pizzeria - Great pizza, great entrees, and fantastic garlic rolls. Behind Howard's in Gatlinburg.
The Wild Plum - A truly special and unique 'tea room' with wonderful food and garden seating just outside of Gatlinburg.
Jon Boy's - Great breakfast place on Wear's Valley Road (light #3) in Pigeon Forge.
Alamo Steakhouse - Beautiful restaurant between lights #4 and #5 in Pigeon Forge. Signature is spicy steaks, but they can be ordered without the kick. Ask for Debbie or Jamie for the best service in town, and order the steak (filet mignon!) soup. |
